Material honesty in a small palette
Fewer materials, used with care, produce buildings that age well. How we select, test and detail.
We try to build each project from three or four materials. Constraint forces each choice to work harder, and the result reads as one object rather than a collection.
Samples are tested at full size, outside, in the light where they will be used. Many fail at this stage, and that is the point.
Honesty, for us, means a material does what it appears to do: a wall that looks heavy should be heavy.
