Timber House
01 — Overview
A small guest lodge in timber, sited between existing trees so that none had to be removed.
A retreat of five guest rooms planned around the trees on site. The plan bends where the roots required it.
02 — Approach
Fig. — Plan diagram (illustrative)
01
Design concept
Build lightly. Timber frame on point foundations keeps the forest floor intact.
02
Material strategy
Charred timber cladding, oak interiors and dark stone in the bathrooms.
03
Spatial planning
A shared hall at the centre with guest rooms arranged as separate wings, each with its own outlook.
04
Architectural details
Prefabricated timber cassettes reduced time on site to a few weeks.
